actually very practically smart and good at thinking of the fly but has no social skills he crawls in the jefferies tubes everytimes there’s a social event he’s literally screaming and throwing up and crying at all times he has like 8 mental illness and is always shivering like a chihuahua the ship was between crews and didn’t have a replacement, and since he had grown up on the same class of starship he was made the acting chief engineer (also because the captain knew him from the acadmey IT’S COMPLICATED)
